Welcome to summer with the Glitter and Glam Girls Blog Hop! While it is not quite summer yet, it is definitely warm like summer and that makes me super happy! I love the summer, and all that comes with the summer. Hazy, hot and humid are all good for me, as long as the pool is open and available. One of the super fun things about my barn, is that it is located right next to our pool. I love being in the water, it could be a pool, a bath tub, lake or even the ocean-but mostly I love the pool because you can see to the bottom!
Our theme for this hop is all about summer! I decided to couple the theme with a masculine gift card holder, that could be used for a male birthday or Father’s Day which is just around the corner! The way this card came together was kind of fun. I started with shimmer white card stock and an aqua painter. I did a light
wash of balmy blue and crumb cake to give an appearance of water and sand. I stamped the image of the man resting in his chair in black memento ink on a separate piece of paper. I colored his shirt in with the balmy blue and night of navy Stampin’ blends. The hat was colored in the dark crumb cake and the skin was the Ivory blend. I fussy cut this out and mounted it on dimensionals. The striped DSP was placed on a piece of night of navy card stock.I mounted that on foam strips to give it some dimension. I wanted it to look like he was 3D. The sentiment was stamped in night of navy ink and adhered it to a toothpick with snail.
This first picture shows you that this card can actually stand. When you lift the right side it opens to show you a place to tuck a gift card for the recipient of this very special summer card. The left side is tucked down across the top and bottom and left side only. That leaves you a spot to tuck a gift card inside. I will post a video of how to create this card, using another design later this week!.
